Having solved the matter of the Radiant Boy, Riley, Buttercup, and Bodhi are enjoying a well-deserved vacation. When Riley comes across a vicious black dog, against Bodhi’s advice, she decides to cross him over. While following the dog, she runs into a young ghost named Rebecca. Despite Rebecca’s sweet appearance, Riley soon learns she’s not at all what she seems. As the daughter of a former plantation owner, she is furious about being murdered during a slave revolt in 1733. Mired in her own anger, Rebecca is lashing out by keeping the ghosts who died along with her trapped in their worst memories. Can Riley help Rebecca forgive and forget without losing herself to her own nightmarish memories?

This is turning out to be a great series!  It's the only one I've read of Alyson's (series), but I own some of her other books that I hope to get to soon.  But I think her writing style is great and she has some unique ideas.

This book wasn't all light and fluff.  It was a quick and fun read, but it had some deeper meanings that help teach some lessons about forgiveness, and holding grudges, etc.  I really liked that.  That it had more to it then just entertainment.

Riley is a lot of fun.  She has a huge personality and you can't help but love her.  In this one she's really grown a bit but when she gets determined to do something she's going to see if through!

I'm not always a fan of middle grade books, they tend to be a little too young feeling for my taste, but this is a series that I think takes on some interesting aspects and ideas and I do enjoy it so far.  And I think that those that are actually at this reading level would really love them.

  1. Thanks for reviewing this one Candace. I have it in my TBR stack right now. Read the first one and really enjoyed it. Riley was one of my favorite characters in Alyson Noel's Immortals series so I was really glad she started this series. I'll have to move it up in my stack!
