Spring Blog Carnival: The Land of Make Believe~ a Challenge & Give@way!

Welcome to The Land of Make Believe!  Before we get started I want to welcome you to the Spring Blog Carnival!  This is a hop-like event where about 50 bloggers host challenges with giveaway's all Carnival themed.  You'll want to head over the map to check out all the stops in the carnival.

This event is hosted by myself, Pure Imagination and Reading Angels.  This is our third year hosting it!  I hope you have a fun time visiting all the wonderful booths!

The land of make believe is full of amazing magical creatures.  From dragons, to witches, to faeries and more, it's hard to say what you might find when peeking around the corner!

Challenge:
I'm keeping this one simple, an easy task for all, just tell me in a comment what your magical creature is.  Be creative! Have fun!

Here's my example:
Furball is my creature, he's a tiny dragon, not tall.  I keep him by my side as he's my pet you see, he is red all over, with a tint of silver on his wings.  His special power is that he can grow so he goes from 3 feet long, 1 foot tall to 20 feet long and 8 feet tall!  And then I can ride him across the land and then he shrinks again so we can enter a small domicile.

Tell me, tell me, what is your creature?!

CLOSED
I am giving away this signed copy of which there are VERY limited copies (only 100 signed copies!) of Poison by Bridget Zinn.
This book has been signed by authors and illustrators who knew Bridget. These were sold at her release event when the book was released.  I was lucky enough to go and to snag an extra copy just for this giveaway!  {If you didn't already know, Bridgett passed away from cancer.}
To enter you must do the challenge!
I will only ship this book within the US.
If you are international and you win I will order you the book from The Book Depository.
You must be 13 or older to enter.
This giveaway ends May 12th.
Void where prohibited by law.

Angela from Reading Angel, Lori from Pure Imagination, and I are throwing the third annual Spring Blog Carnival!
Each person who signs up will host a booth.  Do you remember what they were? If not, here's a refresher:
Booths are basically specific challenges and giveaways.  Each blogger that hosts a booth will have a fun challenge that you can complete to win prizes. Here's what we have so far (as more sign up they'll be added on):

Sign Up's are now closed!
Those are the booths we have at the moment, if you would like to host a booth here's a little more info about being a host:
  • Booths (challenge & giveaway posts) must be up by May 6th at 12:00am.
  • You must think of your booth theme on your own and have it ready when you email us.
  • Challenges can consist of anything, but don't make it too hard. (If you would like some examples of some challenges go here and here)
  • Giveaways must correspond with the booth theme somehow.
  • Giveaways can be any books or book related item.
The Carnival will be May 6th through the 12th.
Please be as creative as you can with your ideas, but you can find last year's map HERE for some ideas.
The first 50 (ish) people to sign up will be added.
Please email Lori if you're interested in hosting a challenge and giveaway (include your ideas in the email!)

Spring Blog Carnival! Welcome to the Parasol Parade! (Challenge+Give@way)

Welcome to start of the Spring Blog Carnival 2012!  This is our second year of hosting this fantastic event and while there have been a few changes I'm sure you'll have just as much fun!  This event is hosted by myself, Lori at Pure Imagination and Angela from Reading Angel.  It's similar to a blog hop but yet totally different.  The similarity is that you can win lots of goodies!  Each booth in the carnival is hosting a fantastic challenge with amazing prizes.  This event runs from May 7th-13th.
This event has ended!  We look forward to seeing you next year!

My booth is the Parasol Parade and I'm featuring all things Steampunk!

Welcome to the Parasol Parade!  Sit back and admire the gorgeous steampunk attire...
Make sure you scroll all the way to end for the challenge as well as the list of all the other booths.
(All these are taken from pinterest, credits are below the pictures.)

What you can win: Giveaway has ended
The fabulous people at Roc (Penguin) are sponsoring this giveaway.  They are giving away 5 sets of the Clockwork Empire books by Steven Harper.  This is The Doomsday Vault (my review) and The Impossible Cube (my review).  This means there will be 5 winners and each winner gets BOTH books.  Pretty awesome, right?  I LOVED these books! (Please note that I am not responsible for the shipping of these items and will not be held responsible if they do not arrive or arrive damaged.  However, please feel free to contact me if you do not receive them and I will look into the matter and do my best to assure they do arrive.)

Rules: Giveaway has ended
This is only open to US addresses.  If you are international but have someone in the US who can provide their address you are welcome to participate.  I apologize that we cannot provide shipping outside the US.
You must be 13 or older to accept these winnings.
This ends on May 13th at 11:29 EST

Challenge:Giveaway has ended
The challenge for you is one of two things.  You pick which one you would like to do.  Or you may do both and get two entries instead of the just one.

Challenge One:Giveaway has ended
The books featured for the prize are The Doomsday Vault and The Impossible Cube.  In the books inventions play a very big part.  When people in this world are infected with the Clockwork Plague they can become crazy smart and invent some insane things.  For this challenge describe something you would like to invent.  It does not have to be steampunk-like.  There are no limits.  (Meaning it doesn't have to be realistic.  It could be a time machine, a way to stop time, a flying contraption... anything.)  In  a comment do your very best to describe this item in the best detail possible.  You may also create a blog post for your entry if you would like.  Remember to leave a way to contact you in the comments!  (Email or twitter)

Challenge Two:
Because I love Steampunk fashion so much I would love to see some items YOU love that are Steampunk themed.  Post pictures on your blog or make a pinboard on pinterest and link me to it in a comment.  Please be sure to have the source listed if you post on your blog.  (If you don't have a blog or pinterest you may post on facebook as long as I can see it.)  Remember to leave a way to contact you in the comments! (Email or twitter)

How the winners are selected:Giveaway has ended
Because I want to see some effort put into the entries I will pick a winner each for the most creative invention from Challenge One and the most creative from Challenge Two.  The other 3 winners will be randomly selected from the remaining entries.  Obviously you can only win once.

Thanks so much for stopping by the Parasol Parade!  Be sure to stop by all the other fantastic booths listed below.  Or by checking out the Carnival Map which makes it even more fun because it'll feel more like a carnival!

Spring Blog Carnival Challenge, w/ Giveaways- The Food Court

Hello my lovely carnival attendees!  Welcome to the food court!  Please, take a seat and look around.  We have some tasty dishes here, but would you first like to warm up with some latte?  This chilly Spring weather can put a chill in the bone.
    The Latte Rebellion

Perhaps you'd like a cupcake?  We have every flavor imaginable!
Of course your welcome to some English Trifle. Mmmmm... I'm melting just thinking about it.
    English Trifle
She also has some Blackberry Crumble, Devil's Food Cake, Lemon Tart and Key Lime Pie if those are more to your taste.
    Devil's Food Cake
Lemon Tart: A Culinary Mystery (Culinary Mysteries (Deseret Book)) Key Lime Pie: A Culinary Mystery Blackberry Crumble: A Culinary Mystery

Perhaps you prefer something a bit more healthy?
Twilight (The Twilight Saga, Book 1)
Whatever your taste is, we have it!  Because this is one place that you can find every kind of food imaginable.

    Now, down to business.

Would you like to win some of these books?  Maybe some swag?
    Well, you could!

    What you can win:
I have The Latte Rebellion by Sarah Jamila Stevenson and some bookmarks and a notepad (very cute!)
It's Raining Cupcakes by Lisa Schroeder (I should be seeing her Tuesday so I'll bring it along to get it signed :) This is the Scholastic version but is brand new!
    and
English Trifle by Josi S. Kilpack *signed*
This isn't the first in the series but I read it and not the others and found that each has it's own mystery so it wasn't really necessary to read the others. This book has been read a few times and shows a little bit of wear, but no cracks in the spine, rips or tears.
    The Giveaway and Rules:
One person with a US address will win all three books, and sticky notes and a bookmark from Sarah Jamila Stevenson.  *Huge thanks to the author for providing the sticky notepad and the bookmarks*
One international person (anywhere outside the US) will win a book of choice (under $10) from The Book Depository (they must ship to you) that has food on the cover.
    Must be 13 to enter.
Must complete the challenge listed below.
Challenge Ends May 9th, 2011 around midnight EST

    The Challenge:
If you were to go to a food court and had unlimited funds and a never ending stomach what would you order?  It can be any food in the whole world!  You must use 75 words or more.  Leave it in the comments, or if you choose to make a post then just link me.  Leave a way to contact you!  And please let me know if your US or International!

    My example:
Ah, so many foods to choose from!  I would start with getting a caramel mocha to warm up a bit because this NW air is just a bit chilly yet.  While sipping my piping hot mocha I would step into line to pick up some crab puffs.  You know, maybe 6 or so since they are one food I can just eat forever.  Maybe 6 is just not enough...  Onto the fried strawberries.  Ah... delicious!  Time to slip in some chocolate before we move on... how about a deep fried snickers? Oh YUM!  Now I'm ready for the cheesecake.  On a stick!  Yes, it tastes much better on a stick.  With chocolate drizzled on it.  Now all that sweet stuff has me craving something greasy.  Oh, yes, some yummy fries dipped in ketchup and mayo is just the thing.  Now, please excuse me while I go and puke...
