My Week in Instagram: Moving to Wordpress! A Few New Books & More Dog Pictures!

From The Midnight Garden I won The Lost Planet by Rachel Searles. This looks like a very fun MG book! And I love their bookmarks!

I actually got Love Letters to the Dead a few weeks ago but it was in a huge stack and didn't really get featured.  I read this this week and I'm very conflicted still.  I'll have my review up soon.

I got Otherbound by Corinne Duyvis from Amulet Books.  This one sounds really intriguing. It has a June release and it's a different cover on goodreads. This is what it looks like there:

I think I like this cover better. But I don't mind the font based one at all.

The dog got a new bed.  He actually really loves it. I wasn't sure if it was worth the money ($35!) but he sleeps on it a lot and even at night, which is amazing.  Definitely worth the money! 

I was trying really hard to get a picture with his ears up and this was the best I could do. It's better when he's sitting and looking up. I swear he looks like a Beanie Boo with his huge eyes.

I got a new computer!  It's a laptop and it has a webcam, so I can do videos again!  Unfortunately I can't seem to get my photos from instagram to share on here. So I'll have to work on figuring that out.  For now you can watch the video and/or check out my instagram photos.  Hopefully by next week I have figured out how to get the instagram photos on here.  For some reason when I try to save, it's not saving it as an image. I have a lot to figure out with this computer and it's weird settings.  

For some reason it cut off the very beginning where I introduce myself, even though I waited for the beep and then some.  But I did a few takes and every time it did that so I decided to go with this one.

My Week in Instagram: Get Together, Stacks of Books and More!

This week was insane! I'm starting with the good though.

My friend Mel is moving to Seattle so we had a get together. It was a ton of fun! We did this great selfie (Thanks Vy for taking the photo!) but it was too large for instagram so it's split. The top has Cat Winters (author of In the Shadow of Blackbirds), Mel, Vy (Vy's Blog) me, and Sara (Novel Novice). The second photo is me (half of me), Vy, Sara, Eliza and Lucy.  Earlier Vania (VLC photo) and her friend Lauren had been there but the had to leave for a photo shoot before we took this photo.

I had an AMAZING book week! First of all, I got this awesome package for Remnants by Lisa T. Bergren. It's the book, poster, flashlight, t-shirt, bookmarks and tattoos. Love it!

I got this package from Paula Stokes, which I won at Rainy Day Ramblings. Big thank you to Paula and Heidi! I'm really excited to read The Art of Lainey! Paula is now local so hopefully we'll be meeting for coffee soon!

From Walden Pond Press I got The Dyerville Tales by M.P. Kozlowsky. This is the author of Juniper Berry, which was super creepy and fantastic.

When I met up with my friends we did an ARC exchange and got a ton from the bookstore as well (ARC's that no one took to read, they gave to bloggers to review).  This is the full stack of the YA books. I have another one almost as big of middle grade. I have them secreted away for my daughters birthday so I'll have to share those next week.

I'm excited about a bunch, but especially Sea of Shadows, Love Letters to the Dead, The Shadow Throne (big squeal!), and well, okay, I think I could go on. I only took ones I really wanted so we actually left quite a few!

I was arranging the books and it was pretty late. Jackson wanted to go to bed but I was ignoring his hints and whines. So he went and dragged a blanket to the couch closet to me and somehow managed to get it wrapped around himself.  SO. FLIPPING. CUTE. Seriously, this dog is the cutest thing ever. You know that saying "You're so cute, I could eat your face."? Well, I was gone to meet up with friends and when I got home he went insane to see me. SO HAPPY. And he was licking my face all over and it then his mouth opened wide like he was just gonna eat my face he loved me so much!  It was really funny!

 

My Week in Instagram: Busy Mail Week, YA, MG and Children's Books + Puppy Pictures!

I got quite a few middle grade books for review this week. Minion is a companion to Sidekicked, which I read last year and Plague is the sequel to Treason, which I'll review this week.

Since You've Been Gone by Morgan Matson and To All the Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han came for review from Amazon Vine. I'm excited to read both and am thinking I might start one of these now since I've kind of been in a slump.

Awesome package from MacMillan. Children's books with Spring/Summer releases. My kids were excited!

Also from MacMillan I got The Body in the Woods by April Henry. This comes out in June and I'm really excited to read it! I actually saw April (she's local, I see her fairly often) when she'd first got the ARC's, so I knew I wanted a copy!

I selected A Horse Called Hero by Sam Angus for review cause my daughter loves horses!  I thought this might be a good thought-provoking book for us to read together. It's a middle grade and also came from MacMillan.

 And a last minute for this week was a hardcover copy of Better Off Friends that Scholastic surprised me with.  YAY!  I already started it and am enjoying it!

 

I was quoted in the paperback of ICED by Karen Marie Moning! This is my quote from my Shadowfever review, which was also in the paperback of Shadowfever.  Very exciting!

We had some gorgeous weather here. The dog LOVED it and just wanted to lay out in the sunshine. It was cute to see him SO happy to be outside!

I've been SO busy I have had a really hard time finding time to comment. So I'm really sorry for slacking on that.  I'll also continue to try my hardest to stop by to visit you all! 

This week my youngest turned 5 and next week my oldest turns 9.  Super crazy busy around here!

My Week in Instagram: Historical Fiction, Urban Fantasy, Bookmarks and Puppy Tales!

For a blog tour in March (not put together by me) I got Treason and The Dark Lady.  These are middle grade historical fiction (I read Treason already and highly recommend. It could be younger YA too, it didn't feel distinctly MG).

For another tour (also not one I'm doing) I got Starling by Fiona Paul. I love this series! I'm sad it's going to be over. :(  

Jean BookNerd had sent me Starling (I'm assuming the publisher sent them to her and she sent them out) and she sent me these awesome bookmarks! Her husband is the artist who made them. And they are signed and personalized! I love them!  So thank you Jean!

And then, for another blog tour (wow, I'm doing a lot of tours lately!) I got Clean by Alex Hughes. This came directly from the author and is signed.  It's an urban fantasy and sounds great!  

Isn't the puppy cute too?  He actually ripped the dust cover of one of my books this week.  I was so devastated! But it was my fault. I set it on the couch for a minute while I ran into the kitchen. It only took a second!  Luckily if I put it on the coffee table he leaves them alone. 

Puppy obedience training is going good.  But we did loose leash walking and he's already really good at that.  This week we're going to be doing 'down', 'leave it', 'drop it' and 'take it' and it will be much harder!  He really needs to learn 'leave it' and 'drop it' though!  Luckily he's getting better about giving things up if he's not suppose to have it.  Before I was constantly prying things out of his mouth.

 

We visited the dog park last week. It was exciting for him and terrifying at the same time. He gets overwhelmed and scared of the other dogs. And especially the big dogs.  When the dogs weren't around he was good.  He found one friend but then the owner called him/her away and Jackson was sad. He likes the mild dogs, the excited ones really freak him out. I'm not sure if I should keep bringing him, or just bring him to the pet store and stuff, where it's not as overwhelming. I really need him to be socialized so I can bring him on our trips and stuff.

I've been busy, busy, busy!  I had a new tour sign up go up this week.  This is for an adult romance called Pan's Conquest by Aubrie Dionne. This is actually a clean romance and is very sweet. You can find the sign ups HERE.

I hope everyone had a lovely week!  I know a lot of people have a lot of snow right now. Luckily ours melted early in the week and now we're back to the normal rainy weather we usually have all winter. 

So for this week...

Walden Pond Press sent us The Hero's Guide to Being an Outlaw by Christopher Healy. We just love this series so we're excited to read it!

This book came. Ignite Me. Yep. Terror and excitement! I want to read it, but I'm scared!  I've been told it's good though and I'm going to try to read it next.

For Valentines Day I chose books over chocolate or flowers (surprise, surprise) and picked out Extracted and A Conspiracy of Alchemists.  There's just something about steampunk covers, I can't resist them!

 Puppy pics! He looks SO young here! In real life he doesn't look so young or so small.  He's 10 1/2 pounds.  He's doing pretty well. He's a bit of a troublemaker who will get into about anything, but with his proper walks and playtime it's not TOO bad. We just have to watch him closely.  He's about one but definitely has a lot of puppy things to grow out of.

My Week in Instagram: Books, Lovely Letters, Snow and Doggies!

This was a decent week.  It was busy, but it was good.  The new dog is doing good and we had our first snowstorm of the year, and the first time we've had actual accumulation since we moved to this house almost 5 years ago. 

 Holly Schindler sent me a book plate, bookmark and a lovely note for her middle grade book that just released, The Junction Between Sunshine and Lucky.  Thank you Holly!

And my preorder of The Junction of Sunshine and Lucky by Holly Schindler arrived! I did already read it, and I loved it!

From Scholastic I got Smasher by Scott Bly. This is MG and it sounds pretty good!

Also from Scholastic.  I gave these to my daughter and we read a little each night.  She loves them!

I got this for review, but I haven't read (and don't have) the first book. So I'm not sure when I'll get to this one.  One day...

My preorder of Cress came! Yay!

And my order of Taste of Darkness came too!  Woo hoo!

I got The Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson from Macmillan (YAY!) and it sounds wonderful!

And the last book I got was Sulan by Camille Picott.  I love Camille's writing so I'm really excited to read this!

  The new puppy, Jackson, loves the snow! But he has to bury his nose to find the scents.

Jackson loves me and has to be as close to me as possible at all times!

My Week in Instagram: A new doggie! Gift exchange goodies and more books!

Last Sunday we added an addition to our family!  This is Jackson, a one year old min pin mix.  Isn't he adorable?! 

We've had some problems; like he's a bit possessive of me and doesn't like my husband, but we're working on it and got him in obedience training.  He's great otherwise!  Fingers crossed we get him eating out of my husbands hands in no time! 

 

I did a book exchange and I got all these goodies! It came from Susan at A Soul Unsung.  I'll be writing up a post about it soon.  I was REALLY excited though! Thank you Susan!

 

I got The Winner's Curse and The Geography of Me and You for review from Amazon Vine and I'm really excited to read both of them!
