Feature & Follow Friday is hosted by alisoncanread.com & parajunkee.com. This week I'm the featured blogger (YAY!). Check out my answers below then go check out the hosts as well as the other featured blog before hopping along to visit everyone else! Thanks Rachel and Alison for the awesome FF! (Also, I have no preference how you follow. GFC, Linky, RSS, or email is fine with me!
When did you start blogging?
I started my blog back in December of 2008. I started it mostly as a way to chronicle my reading and keep track. Soon after my baby was born and I pretty much took a year long break. I've been blogging consistently since early 2010.
What is your favorite part of book blogging?
Doing what I love. Reading, hanging out with book people and getting to know authors. Really, there's not a downside other than it gets time consuming, but really, once I find my middle ground it's amazing!
What is your favorite book(s)?
Yikes. I know everyone has a hard time with this question. But the one series that I have consistently stuck with as a favorite is Jacqueline Carey's Kushiel's series. This is actually three different trilogies. Phedre's is the first and my favorite, but the other two trilogies are absolutely amazing as well. This is an adult (most definitely adult!) fantasy series and I VERY highly recommend it. It's heavy reading, but worth every single moment. I really want to go on and on trying to convince you to read it, but I'll stop there. Just read it, kay? And one series I have to mention is The River of Time series by Lisa Bergren. This is YA but appropriate for everyone. It's a series that adults and teens alike love. Don't let the fact that Lisa Bergren is a Christian writer stop you, this does not read like Christian fiction. It's just a clean read, but with plenty of hot guys and lots of battle scenes.
What has been the best thing that has happened to you because of book blogging?
The friends I've made. I've made so many friends blogging and these are not just 'online friends' they are true friends who are there for me when I need them. Anytime, any day.
Q: Happy Father's Day! Who is your favorite dad character in a book and why?
I'm actually going to go with Elise's dad from A Want So Wicked by Suzanne Young. He's a pastor and has strong ideals, but he doesn't force things upon his daughters. He lets them choose. He's a good father in that he's there for them no matter what, even if he doesn't always feel happy with their decisions.
I hope you'll stop by my collaborative blog as well. This blog is run by several bloggers and is pretty new still, we'd love to have you check it out! It's Novels, News & Notes From Your Northwest Neighbors.

ReplyDeleteI'm following via GFC. My post is here: http://365-books-a-year.blogspot.com
Great learning more about you! Haven't read either of these books, will have to check them out!
ReplyDeleteAnd you so deserve to be featured because you're awesomesauce. Woot!
ReplyDeleteYay for being featured! I really need to pick up Kushiel's Dart already and give it a try. I guess the size and more indepth plot lines have just pushed me away from the series because I don't have a ton of time to devote to that type of series right now.
ReplyDeleteI will have to check out your new blog to see what it is all about!
I miss you girlie, I never really get to chat with you anymore :(
Congrats on the feature! I haven't read A Want so Wicked, but I love a good pastor's daughter story. ;-)

I love reading about good fathers. And you're right. I've made some amazing friends blogging and that is definitely the best part!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on being featured Candace! I'm so happy for you.
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard of the Jacqueline Carey trilogies yet, but then again, I'm not much of a fantasy reader. But I loved the way you talked about them here. Your enthusiasm is rubbing off.
